There are more than a dozen causes of dizziness and many reasons why you might have difficulty with your balance. Our Physical Therapists have helped many people in our community recover from conditions that cause balance disorders.
The most important part of treating a balance disorder is understanding your diagnosis, the cause of the problem, and how to manage it.
Positional Vertigo – A Common Cause of Dizziness & Balance Disorders
If you have BPPV - benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, we can perform a series of simple movements, such as the Epley maneuver, which can help dislodge the calcium crystals from the semicircular canal of the ear. In many cases, one session works.
Our physical therapists can help increase your strength and coordination to help lower your risk of falling and getting hurt during daily activities, such as when you walk up or down stairs, use the bathroom, or exercise.

Modalities used in PT:
Ultrasound therapy is used to minimize muscle pain and movement dysfunction, which uses sound waves to deliver deep heat to the treated tissues. Ultrasound treatments may help reduce stiffness, swelling, and pain, while increasing circulation and promoting pain-free movement.
Electrical Stimulation is a treatment that can help reduce chronic or acute pain. It may be especially helpful immediately following an injury. It involves stimulating nerve fibers with small painless electrical currents that promote the release of natural pain relieving chemicals in the body.
Cold Laser is a very comfortable therapy for our patients. Being a cold photo-therapeutic modality makes it ideal in treating acute inflammatory and neurological disorders such as neuropathy, soft tissue injuries, foot and ankle sprains and strains and arthritic conditions.
ETPS combines the principles of acupuncture and neurology with micro current stimulation. We have successfully helped many patients eliminate & control their pain levels and resume normal function.
Anodyne Therapy Infrared emitting diodes are fixed to flexible pads on the skin. The infrared energy causes molecules of nitric oxide to be released from hemoglobin in the bloodstream which increases blood flow and helps deliver healing cells and nutrients to the treatment area and has been successfully used to treat hard healing wounds and foot ulcers. Stimulates blood circulation and brings pain reduction. Patients with diabetes often have impaired blood flow to the feet. Nerve damage / neuropathy might result from this, causing a lack of sensation in the feet. Symptoms are dry, cracking and easily peeling skin. Diabetes patients with impaired blood flow often suffer from foot ulcers and infections, which can be treated with anodyne infrared therapy. The therapy is also commonly used for the treatment of tendonitis, which is a medical condition of inflammation of the tendons where the muscles are attached to the bones.
